Visa - Paperwork Forest

For Visa Paperwork Forest, I collaborated with Andrew Bell on a Maya plug-in to reduce the render times of the paper trees. Andrew had developed a plug-in that artist, Laurent Ledru, used to create the paper trees. The creation process produced a fair amount of geometry that is never seen. The plugin-in that Andrew and I developed removed the unseen geometry. Here is Andrew's description of the plug-in's process: "Hai and I developed some code which analyzed the geometry of a shot, accounted for the angles visible to the camera, and culled paper which was never visible. The result was a reduction of geometry often by 50% or more, and a similar dip in render times."
